When I was 14, I saw a margarine commercial where a fish leapt from one pan to another—because that pan was using margarine, of course. The jump was clearly done in post, because let’s be honest, fish don’t usually express a preference for cooking fats by mid-air acrobatics. And, let’s not forget, this fish was already frying - dead fish don’t jump. Mid-flight, the magic really happened. The fish suddenly sprouted cartoon eyes and a mouth and shouted, "Yeehaa!" in pure joy before landing in the pan. Cue packshot. End scene.

That ad is the reason I got into advertising. Unfortunately, high school didn’t offer classes on creating commercials featuring animated, yeehaa-ing fish. So after graduation, I went to the Danish School Of Advertising, hoping they could teach me. They did, but I wanted to become even better at it. So, I packed my bags and went to Miami Ad School. Two years later, I had become pretty good at making ads starring fish with cartoon-looking eyes, so I got my first job as a Junior Copywriter, and the rest is history. Well, for me, that is. Not for you. You actually have no idea what happened afterward, but this About copy is getting lengthy, so I need to wrap it up. I'm currently working as an ACD at Chiat Day in Los Angeles. But still, to this day, I've never managed to sell in a commercial starring a fish with animated eyes and mouth. I'll keep trying, though, that's for sure.
